Mission Statement

The Freeway Park Association engages and mobilizes people, organizations, and resources to create dynamic public experiences, community-building opportunities and engagement with art and education for an inviting, beautiful, and celebrated Jim Ellis Freeway Park.

About This Cause

Freeway Park Association started as a few concerned neighbors working to bring life back into their aging neighborhood park. Today we are a coalition of dedicated community members and volunteers, organizational members, volunteer board members and a small but mighty staff - an Executive Director, a Program and Engagement Coordinator, a Park Operations Coordinator and a Public Art Coordinator. Our members and volunteers make up the backbone of the Association and represent our neighbors from First Hill and Downtown. We are also supported by a diverse array of partners who provide programming, funding and outreach. Our work includes: + Advocacy and education around the park’s legacy as a National Historic Place and a Local Landmark. + The development of free and accessible arts, educational and wellness programs. + Outreach and engagement toward a diverse community of park stewards and volunteers. + Fundraising to support operations, programs and capital projects.
