About This Cause
The Center for Object Relations (COR), also known as The Northwest Family Development Center (NWFDC) is a nonprofit organization, based in Seattle, Washington. The mission of COR is to increase the knowledge and understanding of British Object Relations theory, integrating this with current developments in psychoanalytic thinking and parent-infant study and research. British Object Relations is in the lineage of psychoanalysis heavily influenced by Sigmund Freud, Melanie Klein, Wilfred Bion, Donald Meltzer, Donald Winnicott, and many others. This collection of theoretical perspectives has grown out of the study of the therapist-patient relationship, seeing human contact and relatedness as the primary motive for human behavior. COR is dedicated to providing quality continuing education to anyone interested in the study of British Object Relations. COR welcomes those local to Seattle and across the globe to attend the training programs in adult and child psychotherapy, as well as community education seminars, and professional events. Specifically, COR offers continuing education to healthcare providers; i.e. clinical social workers, mental health counselors, psychologists, nurse practitioners, physicians, and others interested in clinical work that reflect psychoanalytic thought in the British Object Relations tradition. The focus of our current fund raising efforts is to have the technological capability to have registered participants be a part of local courses and events no matter where they live in the world. We want to make our course offerings and seminars easily accessible for therapists around the globe to participate in our variety of course offerings.
