About This Cause
MISSION STATEMENT Encouraging independence, empowerment, and self-sufficiency for families fleeing domestic violence by providing access to permanent housing, tailored services, and community resources Serving Pierce County HISTORY We are a 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization, founded in 1994 in response to a desperate need for affordable housing and limited domestic violence (DV) services in East Pierce County. PROGRAMS & SERVICES: Exodus Housing provides Rapid Rehousing for low-income households who are fleeing or attempting to flee from domestic violence and do not have the resources to secure housing on their own. Families receive connections to permanent housing, monthly rental assistance and customized case management support services. Our program model is client driven so the families choose what service/resources they need from us and we support their choice. Based on each family’s specific needs, we pay the moving costs (first/last month rent, security deposit, application fee, utility hookup, etc.) Once housed, we provide tailored case management and rental assistance with the family paying 30 percent of their income towards rent, and we pay the balance. Family support services directly assists and or provides targeted referrals to address the clients’ needs such as; housing, landlord negotiations, procurement of household goods and furnishings, credit repair, legal aid, safety planning, access to employment-based education/training, job search and placement, etc. Our goal is to connect families with resource, referrals and services, designed to increase long term self-sufficiency and independence. Successful outcome for families exited include housing retention and increased income. Our key achievement is that at least 80% of our exited families remain housed at exit from our program and the 60% increased income from entry to exit.
