Mission Statement
Formed in 1997 by combining the operations of University Hospital, Bishop Clarkson Memorial Hospital, and their ambulatory care facilities, The Nebraska Medical Center (TNMC), doing business as Nebraska Medicine, is the largest health-care facility in Nebraska. Nebraska Medicine is known for excellence, innovation and quality patient care. As the teaching hospital for the University of Nebraska Medical Center, this 624 acute-care bed facility has an international reputation for providing solid organ and bone marrow transplantation services. Nebraska Medicine serves patients regionally including Nebraska, Iowa, South Dakota and Missouri with comprehensive oncology, neurology and cardiology programs. The medical center employs more than 4,900 employees and has over 1,000 physicians in all major specialties and sub-specialties on staff. Additionally, Nebraska Medicine is the training site for over 350 medical and surgical residents and over 1000 students in a given year.

And we will maintain our relationship as the primary teaching partner for the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC). Our new organization now includes: Nebraska Medicine – Nebraska Medical Center is a 621 acute-care bed facility that provides care to some of the sickest and most complex patients from a team of experts that represents more than 1,000 physicians in all major specialties and subspecialties. As the teaching hospital for UNMC, our patients also benefit from one of the nation’s leaders in and cutting edge research and education. •U.S News & World Report has named Nebraska Medicine the #1 hospital in the state for several years in a row. •Becker’s Hospital Review has named Nebraska Medicine as one of the 100 Best Hospitals in America for two straight years. •According to Newsweek’s list of “Top Cancer Doctors 2015,” 75 percent of the top cancer doctors in the state are at Nebraska Medicine.Nebraska Medicine – Nebraska Medical Center has an international reputation for providing solid organ and bone marrow transplantation services. •We are a leader in oncology, cardiology and neurology services. •We have an international reputation for providing solid organ and bone marrow transplantation services. •Nebraska Medicine, along with its academic partner UNMC, are building the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center – the largest project in campus history – scheduled to open in early 2017. •Nebraska Medicine has two major outpatient expansion projects underway at two key locations – main campus and Village Pointe – to align extraordinary outpatient care with a design that offers ease and convenience for patients, visitors and staff. ◦The Lauritzen Outpatient Center & Fritch Surgery Center, opening in late 2016, features a multi-specialty outpatient surgical center, outpatient clinics, and various support services. ◦The Village Pointe Medical Center Campus, also opening in 2016, features a multi-specialty outpatient surgery center, new and expanding outpatient clinics, support services, and new retail and diagnostic services. •We are Nebraska’s only state designated Comprehensive Trauma Center serving both pediatric and adult patients. •We also have one of the nation’s three Biocontainment Units that have successfully treated patients with Ebola and is capable of caring for anyone exposed to a contagious and dangerous disease. Nebraska Medicine – Bellevue, is a 55-bed, full-service hospital that offers 24/7 emergency care, obstetrics, inpatient and outpatient surgery, intensive care, cardiology services, cancer services, a pharmacy, radiology and lab testing. Nebraska Medicine – Clinics includes more than 450 doctors in 50 specialties and sub-specialties who are dedicated to providing exceptional patient care, teaching to our future clinicians and conducting groundbreaking research.
