Mission Statement
Cloud Mountain’s mission as a retreat center is to support awakening, the deepest promise of the teachings of the Buddha. The retreats offered are intended to allow participants direct experience of unexpected and fundamental shifts in consciousness that profoundly and permanently alter our understanding of our own natures as human beings and the nature of reality, thus transforming how we live in the world and interact with others.
About This Cause
Friends of Cloud Mountain is the administrative nonprofit organization that operates Cloud Mountain Retreat Center, a non-sectarian Buddhist center located deep in the forests of southwest Washington that hosts residential meditation retreats year round. The charity’s purpose is to provide opportunities for all individuals to hear and practice Buddhist teachings with qualified and realized teachers in an environment that combines simplicity, integrity, kindness and direct contact with the beauty and energies of the natural world in support of spiritual deepening and realization. Currently the maximum group size is 38 participants, a size that feels intimate and personal, where no one feels like “just another face in the crowd.” Retreats are structured to provide each individual a sense of belonging and value within the community, as well as provide an environment for practicing the Buddhist teachings daily life activities.
