Mission Statement

Lopez Island Home & Hospice Support, as a skilled volunteer organization, provides home and hospice support services and resources to the Lopez Island community experiencing illness, injury, and/or loss.

About This Cause

We are a non-profit, volunteer organization providing our Lopez Island neighbors with professional case management, chore and respite services, errands, transportation, and maybe a friendly little game of cribbage. We also offer grief support to help people going through major changes in their lives. We also have a wide variety of durable medical equipment like wheelchairs, walkers and shower benches available for short-and long-term loan. You can see what we have currently available at https://www.libib.com/u/lihhs-dme. Our office at 178 Weeks Road (part of the Gathering Place) is open 8:30-12:30, Monday through Friday. Lopez Island Hospice & Home Support received non-profit status in 1997. Since that time, thanks to regular grants from the Lopez Island Thrift Store and the kindness of so many Lopezians, our volunteers have served more than 400 clients and their families over the years. All our services, including the use of durable medical equipment, are offered for free regardless of age, gender, race, or religion. Any Lopez resident who feels our offerings would help them or their family qualifies for our services. The need for home & hospice support on Lopez Island cannot be overstated. In such a small community, the loss of even one person is greatly felt. Thanks to our volunteers and the generosity of Lopez Islanders, we can help our neighbors stay in their homes during illness or at the end of life, enhancing life on Lopez Island for one and all.
