Mission Statement

Seeking to put God's love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities, and hope.

About This Cause

Habitat for Humanity of East Jefferson County partners with low-income people to build simple, decent houses using volunteer labor and material, much of which is donated. Habitat then sells the homes to pre-selected families at no profit with no or very low interest. We build simple, decent houses in partnership with people in need. Habitat is a Christian housing ministry partnering with people of all faiths or no faith to build lives on the foundation of home ownership. Habitat's partner families put in 250 to 400 hours of sweat equity which can be completed on their own homes, other community builds, or at the Habitat office or stores. Habitat operates two community thrift stores, which provides partner families with volunteer opportunities and raises money and community awareness about the store. 100% of the money raised at the stores, support Habitat's work building and repairing homes in partnership with people in need. Habitat has an ambitious goal of serving 50 families in five years, and at least 20 or more home repairs are expected in the next three years to provide safer, healthier homes in Jefferson County.
