About This Cause
Family Support Center of South Sound (FSC) provides families with children and survivors of domestic violence with coordinated supportive services to achieve its mission, “Working Together to Strengthen All Families and Survivors”. FSC builds strong, healthy, hopeful families through collaborative programs, reducing the negative impacts of poverty, homelessness, and family violence. The FSC Campus serves as a one stop shop for families and survivors, offering a robust list of programs and services as well as housing multiple partner agencies who provide direct services to families including civil legal support, DV and Veteran services, mental health counseling, and parenting education. FSC’s own programs include: Homeless Family Services: provides Coordinated Entry, case management, rapid re-housing assistance, and housing search and placement for ANY family experiencing homelessness. Family Shelter Program: includes Pear Blossom Place, the region’s largest 24/7 emergency homeless family shelter with 30 year-round beds and seven onsite permanent housing units with supportive services;10 beds at the 24/7 family shelter located on the FSC Campus; year-round coordination of 6 hotel rooms serving as 24/7 shelter spaces; and emergency shelter spaces for up to 9 additional families (~30 people) from 6pm-10am during the cold weather season (Nov-April). Parent & Child Education Program: provides formal and informal parenting education, breast/chest feeding support, 1:1 parental support sessions, and community workshops. Family Resource Services Program: provides families with hygiene supplies, benefits enrollment, financial education, resource navigation, utility assistance, eviction prevention, and support in accessing any and all available resources in the community. Family Justice Center: a collaborative, co-located program that offers both confidential community-based services and criminal justice system support for domestic violence and sexual assault survivors.
