Mission Statement
The Aubrey Rose Foundation was started after Aubrey Rose Hollenkamp had 5 open-heart surgeries and a heart and double lung transplant. Her first surgery at 10 weeks of age was done at Cincinnati Children's Hospital, and then 3 open-hearts were done at the Cleveland Clinic and then her 4-month transplant stay was successfully accomplished at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia at 18 months of age. Aubrey got to love life for another 18 months. Tragically, she died 2 days before her 3rd birthday. Her parents felt very strongly that they needed to give back and help out others and so the Aubrey Rose Foundation was founded 3 months from the date of her death to put smiles on the faces of many children and their families just like Aubrey always smiled!
About This Cause
The Aubrey Rose Foundation will be honoring Aubrey’s life by: •Awarding educational scholarships for children so that they can better themselves. In Aubrey’s three short years, she made a positive impact on many people. These scholarships will be based on how children have made an impact on the people around them. •Helping families with financial need because of medical expenses of their children. •Organizing buying toys and holiday parties to brighten the lives of sick children at our local Children’s Hospital. •Promoting educational awareness about the need for organ donations. •Organizing dinners for the Ronald McDonald House families to boost these families’ spirits so they can carry on taking care of their sick child. •Healing the Worlds Hearts Program – This was developed by Aubrey’s Foundation with help from Cincinnati Children’s Hospital doctors, surgeons and corporate support to provide “simple” heart procedures to sick children in the U.S. and developing countries around the world. We say “simple” heart procedures because these are surgeries which can be performed in the U.S. that can SAVE A CHILD’S LIFE letting them go back home to live a healthy and productive life without follow-up cardiac procedures.
