Mission Statement
Eva's Eden is a cage-free cat rescue and sanctuary in middle Tennessee providing love, hope and support to the most overlooked members of our society...the homeless cat. Working through a network of loving foster homes, our cats receive one-on-one attention, care and support to heal them of their physical maladies and emotional traumas with patience and love. Each home specializes in a different type of care, from feral socialization and kitten socialization to more complicated medical support. We also act as a sanctuary for elderly, sick, and disabled kitties who are not strong enough emotionally or physically to find a permanent home. Those who are meet the public in our beautiful and unique mobile adoption unit, a kitty shelter on wheels that visits areas in our communities to bring the love of the felines to our friends and neighbors. We are Eva's Eden...bringing love to the world, one cat at a time.
About This Cause
Vision: To return animals to a place of honor in our society, thereby changing the world, one animal at a time. Mission: To take in unwanted, lost, feral, or ill-treated animals, provide shelter and veterinary care, find secure and loving homes, and increase the public’s education and awareness of our responsibility to honor and cherish animals. Eva’s Eden is a cage-free animal refuge and rescue center designed as a place of safety where animals are nurtured to physical health, rehabilitated, socialized, and, if appropriate, placed for adoption in new homes. We believe that stewardship of the earth and oneness with creation underlies our inner-connectedness and is an expression of our love and appreciation of life. Unfortunately, cats in modern society are treated as expendable. This has not been true, however, in most ancient cultures where cats were revered and treated with great respect for their mystical quality. We adhere to this more ancient viewpoint and bring that into consideration with the endemic population crisis. Animals are cared for through a network of specially trained foster homes under the direct supervision of Eva’s Eden staff. We believe foster homes can often provide a more suitable, personalized environment for healing than any shelter. It is love and affection that completes the healing cycle begun through medicines and treatments. There is no limit to the time animals are kept in care. If we cannot find a suitable permanent home for an animal, it stays in its foster home. Animals come to Eva’s Eden principally through collaboration with other animal shelters and rescue operations for which we provide a relief valve when they are overcrowded and overwhelmed. This is especially true with cats during “kitten season.” This includes pregnant mothers, those with newborn babies, kittens, and adults. We also take in public surrenders and work in the local community to capture feral cats. We ensure that all of our animals are healthy, up-to-date on vaccinations, free of worms, ear mites, fleas, and other parasites, and properly spayed and neutered before being released for adoption. True animal welfare comes from not only protecting animals and caring for their physical needs, but also nurturing them though love and attention. In return, we grow in a deeper understanding of our own personal journey to find peace within our own heart, mind, and soul.
