About This Cause
In order to achieve its mission, Miracles for Kids’ programming focuses on three main goals: (1) to operate core financial aid and other support programs needed to remain stable and face daily emotional and economic struggles; (2) to operate health and wellness programs aimed at keeping children and families physically, mentally and emotionally strong; and (3) to serve as an advocate and resource in the community for critically-ill children and their families. Miracles for Kids operates seven core programs that together meet the at-risk families’ basic needs and provides holistic support: (1) The Grant Program - provides monthly financial aid to low-income families who, as a result of their critically-ill child, struggle to fulfill basic financial obligations such as shelter, healthy food, transportation, utilities and medical insurance payments; (2) Basket of Miracles - provides healthy food, household supplies and basic necessities to The Grant Program families four times a year; (3) Fund-a-Family - matches a donor directly with a family in need; (4) Familycare - provides healthcare to uninsured members of a patient’s family; (5) Closet of Miracles - a no-cost resource of gently-used clothing, shoes and household supplies for families in need; and (6) Cozies - brings warmth and comfort to families in need by providing handmade fleece blankets, lovingly created each week by groups of dedicated volunteers, are packaged and delivered to patients at hospitals, care centers and private homes; and (7) Miracle Manor - the organization's newest program that provides transitional housing to families with a critically ill child being treated at CHOC Children's.
