Mission Statement
To lighten the financial and emotional burdens experienced by adoptive families, by connecting them with the faith and resource of God’s people.
About This Cause
We at Village of the Stars are committed to support and advocate for American families who are facing the multiple challenges in adopting and raising children from abroad, in particular, those with special needs. We aspire to be a bridge between American adoptive families with Chinese community, connecting resource, culture and faith. Currently we have the the following projects: 1. Annya Project Focuses on advocating for and supporting children with Down Syndrome. Annya was the only daughter of Mark and Diane Chiang and passed away shortly after her 18th birthday. Her organ donations benefited four patients (five organs). What we need to remember Annya is her love for Jesus. 2. Daniel Project Provides support for the care and reduction of orphans outside the US. We have been contributing to specific needs of Open Hearts for Orphans, a non-profit organization founded and run by Lisa Murphy in honor of her 2-year-old adopted son, Daniel, who passed away due to complications following a heart transplant. Lisa authored a book titled With an Open Heart, sharing Daniel’s story. 3. Smiles Project Supports children who require oral and maxillofacial surgeries. Many of these procedures are classified as cosmetic and dental care, which are typically not covered by medical insurance. 4. Emergent Assistance Project Provides emergency grants for situations such as bereavement, hospitalization, natural disasters, urgent home repairs, and the replacement of critical appliances. 5. Cultural Exchange Project Promotes cultural exchange by offering Chinese language classes, hosting festival celebrations, and organizing cultural activities. This project aims to help Chinese adoptees reconnect with their cultural roots and address identity issues. 6. Celebration Project Offers gifts and gift cards for occasions such as birthdays, gotcha days, Christmas, Chinese New Year, graduations, and marriages. These gifts serve as symbolic gestures to show our appreciation and support, reminding children that the Chinese community cares about them. 7. Education & Training Project Provide bursaries to students from families with financial difficulties and scholarships to students with excellent academic performance. This fund can also be used to subsidize the cost of vocational trainings. There are three college scholarships available for adoptees to apply: Milestone Scholarship, Opportunity Scholarship and Star Scholarship. 8. Financial Freedom Project As saying goes, "Give a man a fish, and you'll feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, and you've fed him for a lifetime." In order to have an sustainable impact, this project focuses on helping the family achieving a financial freedom. Through this fund, we can provide micro loans for families to start a small business or to fund the skill trainings necessary to work from home.
