UNION GOSPEL MISSION

PORTLAND, Oregon, 97209-3906 United States

Mission Statement

For over twenty years our mission was stated simply; To feed the hungry, restore the addict, and love our neighbor. In 2011, the board expanded this mission to read: Better feed the hungry, restore the addict and love our neighbor in the greater Portland area by growing LifeChange, and expanding the reach of both volunteer services and a network of organizations.

About This Cause

We seek to address the needs of those we serve by providing meals, clothing, shelter, and the message of hope for a better future through Christ. Our services directed toward these goals include: bi-weekly hot breakfasts, daily bag-lunch distribution, weekday lunch and dinner service, collection and distribution of seasonal shoes and clothing, cold-weather emergency shelter services, and chapel services five days a week. In recognition of the devastation that alcoholism, drug addiction, and domestic abuse create in the lives of people in our city, our LifeChange recovery community provides an intensive, residential, faith-based program for men and women desperate for a new start. The men's program is housed in the downtown Portland location at 3rd and Burnside. The New women's center, located at 3400 SW 103rd in Beaverton also includes children. These recovery centers are funded entirely from donations and are provided free-of-charge with the understanding that most who are urgently seeking help are unable to pay.
