Mission Statement

The Oregon Child & Family Center for Excellence (The Center) helps children, youth, and families in Oregon by strengthening the frontline programs, service delivery, and systems that contribute to their well-being and success. Our work building capacity for the sector translates to stronger, healthier, more sustainable Oregon communities. We offer ongoing, responsive professional development opportunities to direct service providers and state agencies to ensure that Oregon’s social service workforce can meet the needs of children, youth, and families throughout our state. We envision an Oregon where young people are supported, families are stable, and communities are strong.

About This Cause

The Center is a unique organization in Oregon’s social service ecosystem that offers responsive professional training and development opportunities to youth and family serving direct service providers and state agencies. We focus on developing the human services workforce, advocating for social service systems innovation, and supporting direct service providers in their ongoing efforts to improve the quality of care they provide for Oregon’s children and families. The Center’s priorities and programming are driven entirely by the expressed needs of those providers, and of the youth and families they serve. The frontline providers who utilize our trainings provide critical services for youth and families across the full social service spectrum, including: educational services, homeless youth services, therapeutic residential care and prevention, foster care, adoption, family reunification, safe housing, mental & behavioral health challenges, abuse, and substance use disorders. Our goal is to improve critical service delivery to children and families throughout Oregon. The Center collaborates closely with our sister organization, the Oregon Alliance (The Alliance), a 501(c)4 organization, which is a statewide member association of 40+ behavioral health and social services organizations who provide vital safety net services to more than 100,000 children, adolescents, and families throughout Oregon, and representing 7,500 employees in the sector.
