About This Cause

Kagyu Changchub Chuling (KCC) is a center for Buddhist meditation in the Vajrayana tradition. It was founded in 1976 by renowned meditation master Kyabje Kalu Rinpoche (1905-1989), a master of the Karma Kagyu lineage and the head of the Shangpa Kagyu school of Tibetan Buddhism. Since its founding, KCC has steadily grown and added new programs, all the while working closely with the meditation masters connected to these lineages. The heart of the Kagyu approach is meditation, both in formal sessions and in the integration into daily life. At KCC, we offer a slate of regular practice opportunities at our urban center in Portland, Oregon. In 2001, we began to expand opportunities for deeper practice by building a residential retreat center near Goldendale, Washington for retreats in lengths of a weekend to a year or more. We offer meditation opportunities suitable for students at all stages of practice, with a mission to support them in their process of spiritual awakening.
