East Portland/East Multnomah County, Oregon, is our home and the heart of our investments, advocacy and programs. About This Cause
Our Just Future has been helping people have and maintain long-term housing and economic security in East Portland / East Multnomah County, Oregon since 1988. We do that by offering programs in five inter-related areas: Emergency Shelter and Rehousing: We operate three emergency shelters where 285 people sleep every night: one for families with dependent children and two for adults who self-identify as women, genderqueer, and non-binary. We provide on-site rapid rehousing services based on the Housing First approach that people need a safe, stable home before they can address other barriers to long-term stability. Supportive Housing Programs: We help people remain stably housed with their utilities on by providing financial assistance to prevent eviction and utility service shut-offs. Affordable Supportive Housing Communities: We co/own and manage 19 affordable housing communities with 897 rental apartments. At each location, our resident services team provides on-site support and community building for residents. Employment Training, Career Coaching, and Financial Wellness: We offer employment programs and financial wellness education for people with significant barriers to prepare for and maintain long-term economic security. After-School Academic Support: We offer academic and social/emotional support to children K-12 living in OJF affordable housing communities so they can thrive in school and beyond. This is part of our effort to break cycles of inter-generational poverty. Human Solutions is a 501(c)(3) non-profit in the state of Oregon. Our tax ID # is 93-097716.
