To provide at-risk and homeless youth the opportunity and skills to achieve independent living.
About This Cause
MISSION STATEMENT Transitional Youth provides outreach, support and housing to positively transform the hearts and lives of at-risk and homeless youth, ages 18-24, through compassion, mentoring and guidance as well as through our Faithful Friends child mentorship program (starting at ages 6-9). Also can be stated as: To positively transform the hearts and lives of at-risk and homeless youth. We achieve our mission by: Providing clothing and other personal items to street youth of the Portland and the metropolitan areas. Operating four fully-staffed residential home programs. These youth are able to experience a sense of “home” many have never experienced before. Helping youth obtain full time employment, schooling opportunities and moving on to independent living situations. Creating intentional relationships with positive adult role models. Our Facilities: Fortify House – located in Wilsonville, Oregon for male residents Home on the Range – located in Battle Ground, Washington for male residents Vida's Ark – located in Vancouver, Washington for pregnant females and mother's with their child. Harmony House - located in Happy Valley, Oregon for female residents Overview of the population we serve at our residential facilities– This target population lacks many basic social skills and resident success will require help with hygiene, self-care, time management, job-seeking skills, basic communication, problem-solving techniques, etc. Addictive behavior interferes with healthy, responsible thinking and our staff provides patience and understanding for residents who choose self-defeating actions.
