We help build lives, our clients and community value

About This Cause

LeVelUp Recovery provides wraparound advocacy services for our underserved clients’ entire continuum of care, often beginning during incarceration. We assess and determine unmet needs using a holistic and intentional approach. We have working relationships within Utah’s recovery communities; including both substance use disorder and mental health treatment. Placement and advocacy are the driving forces for attaining the appropriate care and overall wellbeing for Our clients. Behind the walls of the Utah State Prisons are thousands of men and women that have lost their voice and oftentimes the support of loved ones. Entry into almost any level of care required by the Board of Pardons and Parole requires countless phone calls, or letters. Meeting these requirements requires a financial commitment that many don't have. We help with coaching and case management. These arrangements include transportation from prison to treatment or sober living. We continue the recovery coaching as well as provide a hotline support number available throughout the entire process. This guarantees the client to be able to be surrounded by an environment that reinforces positivity and achieving goals that will change their lives for the better. Our team has in depth knowledge of available resources within our area but our long term goal with each client is to educate them to find these resources on their own as well. We believe that for the client to be able to gain autonomy and the ability to self support within the community resource organizations reinforces their chances for continued success. Integrating in these various organizations enables our clients to maintain longevity once they achieve their short term goals with us. This is key to successful outcomes. The client’s team does seek and attain any necessary medical attention that the client needs and will need in the future. We ensure medical needs are met including having that first appointment scheduled. Meeting with a provider during early remission and during the episode of acute care in order to address alternatives for medication assisted treatment is crucial. with medication, medical testing, disease prevention, and treatment oversight help our clients align with meeting their needs. Needs that have not been met during active addiction and incarceration for the most part. Assessing each person’s hierarchy of needs that become each individual's responsibility the moment they step out of the gates. Our goal is to educate the justice system and our clients in order for our population to advocate for themselves. Resisting the urge to return to a lifestyle that has only had a negative affect on their life and the lives of their families is common. We would love the opportunity to work hand in hand with the legal system in order to build a working relationship. Our long term goal is to have these state and federal agencies as community partners. Building and creating family workshops starting with assistance to families whose primary contributor is incarcerated. We enlighten our client’s loved ones in the “how to's" of utilizing options to maintain contact, continue to give positive support, and keep the family unit as intact as possible during those periods of incarceration and We have spent years cultivating these relationships with these institutions because “it takes a village.” We will utilize services not always known throughout the community including, but not limited to: Hope on Ttapp (HOT) for HIV and Hepatitis C testing and treatment in conjunction with Martindale Clinic, Soap2Hope for harm reduction, survivor support, sex trafficking and exploitation assistance. We utilize treatment centers such as 7th Street Treatment Center, Journey, The Haven, and Odyssey House. We have built connections with First Step, USARA, House of Hope, Sacred Circle and Warrior Spirit utilizing services already available to extend our reach of care. Lastly, we will partner with health care clinics and hospitals and other facilities that have services to offer and assist this underserved, often stigmatized community community. By working together versus against each other we have found a common goal in improving the lives of others. Additionally, working with county and healthcare.gov supported detox services such as Volunteers Of America (VOA) and New Vision helps us meet the needs for critical services. Recovery coaching is a peer support based coaching modality. Recovery coaching allows those that have lived through similar experiences and walked through similar struggles to offer a solution to a seemingly hopeless cycle. Unlike the education behind substance use disorders and the mental health issues, recovery coaching is based on the rapport and trust that can be developed between a recovery coach and their client. Our organization offers psycho education, development of life skills, and help creating positive connections that are conducive to fulfilling their true potential. We have found that our personal experience enables us to reach this high risk population. Within the entire structure of our organization is the drive to help others navigate the necessary resources in order to successfully sustain sobriety, employment, and to ultimately become a happy, productive member of society. In addition to that drive is our sense of responsibility to give back to those in need. Peer support services build resilience to addiction and disputes the maladaptive coping mechanisms that coincide with addiction and the criminal lifestyle. We help those who have been isolated and stigmatized by incarceration and addiction, find meaning and develop a sense of purpose. Connecting within a community while receiving addiction recovery treatment or being reintroduced to society has been proven to be vital assets to successful outcomes.
