Mission Statement

The Los Angeles Communication Center (LACC) Squad Club is a non-profit organization in California dedicated to improving the lives and well-being of all first responders, support staff and their families who work with the California Highway Patrol Los Angeles Communication Center. It is also dedicated to community outreach programs to help educate the public about first responders and the role public safety dispatchers play within the Department of the California Highway Patrol (CHP).

About This Cause

As you may be aware, the work of public safety dispatchers is vital to ensuring the safety and well-being of our community members. These remarkable professionals handle emergency calls, dispatch appropriate response units, and provide critical assistance throughout challenging situations. Unfortunately, the nature of their demanding job exposes them to unique stressors and emotional trauma that often go unnoticed or underappreciated. When the topic of 'first responder' is discussed, people immediately think about police and firefighters. Dispatchers are the true first responders due to taking the first call for those in need of help. Dispatchers take care of each caller and over time, those calls take a toll and employee wellness and mental health take a backseat. Understanding the significance of employee wellness, our communication center has initiated the LACC Squad Club to address these concerns and provide comprehensive support to our dispatchers. The LACC Squad Club's goals will encompass various activities and resources aimed at improving their mental, physical, and emotional health. We are hoping to expand on opportunities for employee wellness. Donations would assist us in providing our dispatchers with overall wellness. Some of our goals include: Upgrading our relaxation room with equipment proven to help people relax and de-stress and providing an on-site gym facility with a variety of options to improve the overall health of our dispatchers. Being able to leave the communication center and give back to our local community with education about public safety and the role of a first responder would be possible with additional funding. Giving our dispatchers the appreciation they deserve more often than one week a year would be possible with your help.
