Mission Statement

The mission of Parker Friends is to support the music program at Parker Elementary Music Magnet.

About This Cause

Parker Friends is a non-profit organization that financially supports the award-winning music program at Parker Elementary, a public school in Houston ISD. Established in 1975, Parker's music program is available to every student, regardless of their financial contribution, ensuring equity and success for all. Parker students have a remarkable history of competing and winning against middle and high school students, a testament to the strength of the program. The music program includes five distinct areas: Band, Guitar, Piano, and Suzuki Strings (violin and cello) and an options Chorus program. Each student receives a comprehensive foundation in music theory and their instrument and is provided an instrument for both school and home use. While at Parker, students enjoy numerous enrichment opportunities, including: • Participation in at least two performances each school year; • Master classes and workshops; • Competitions such as Solo Ensemble and All-City; • Small group and one-on-one instruction; • Large and small group performances. Through the ongoing support of Parker Friends, students are empowered to thrive in their musical journeys with the resources and opportunities they need to succeed.
