About This Cause
For the past 20 years KPC has been driven to help individuals reach their maximum potential. During Covid we wanted to stay true to our mission and vision so while studios and other types of businesses were shutting down we decided to open up. With this 1st studio in October 2020, we were able to allow our then 6 members to still be creative and have a sense of community in person rather than through a screen. With this small studio we were able run minimally and provide a space for our members to practice and perform for in person and online performances including events like "El Sueno Dance Day at El Centro De La Raza" hosted by El Sueno supporting marginalized communities by offering free dance classes and performances. As well as a number of fundraisers like “Together We Rise” hosted by Battalion Entertainment and Jam House Co., this event raised money for the “Bail Fund” which provided relief to protesters wrongfully imprisoned during the protests following the deaths of George Floyd, Breanna Taylor, and the many unjustified murders committed by police before and after. In November 2021 we grew to 12, re-introducing Toxik as our beginning performance team. Come 2022, we move to our 2nd studio space and resume our showcase series “The Endemic” & “The Epidemic” allowing us to create performance opportunities for KPC and our community students. Not to mention “The Epidemic” was a sold out show! As KPC grows we have been dedicated to taking part in performances that give back and provide value to the community a few events to mention from 2023 are No Flex Zone Hosted by Friday Night Hip Hop, U-Heights Summer Park Pop-Up, and of course KPC’s own sold out show “The Endemic”. Now in August 2023 we are running out of space to accept new members into Toxik, Kure, and Kontagious. With an additional 150+ students at one time through our community classes our current studio does not allow optimization of all of the resources we have currently and are planning for in the future. With this new studio we will be able to continue the growth of our performance teams and provide more resources and services that are affordable and accessible to all. These services and resources include… Pay what you can tuition and memberships In house camps/workshops, after school programs, and performances. Additional Music and Dance classes Additional leadership training Community events (dance days, movie nights, etc.)
