Mission Statement

To drive impactful foreign policy toward Haiti through strategic research, evidence-based dialogue, and cross-sector collaboration—amplifying Haitian voices, informing decision-makers, and shaping a more just and effective global engagement with Haiti.

About This Cause

For decades, foreign policy toward Haiti has been reactive, often shaped by humanitarian responses to crises rather than long-term, strategic planning. The policy space has been dominated by non-Haitian voices, and major decisions have been made without rigorous engagement with Haitian experts or communities. Despite being one of the poorest nations in the Western Hemisphere and a country grappling with one of the world’s highest rates of gang violence, Haiti lacks consistent attention from the foreign policy establishment. Haiti’s relevance tends to spike in moments of catastrophe—earthquakes, coups, migration waves—only to fade as crisis fatigue sets in. The result is a pattern of policies that are short-sighted, insufficiently informed, and often damaging in the long run. Haiti Policy House fills this void by offering trusted, independent analysis rooted in data, lived experience, and global policy expertise. The organization aims to shift Haiti’s place in international discussions—from a charity case to a strategic actor worthy of sustained attention and principled partnerships.
