OREGON LIONS SIGHT AND HEARING FOUNDATION INC

Portland, Oregon, 97210 United States

Mission Statement

We screen, treat, save, and restore sight and hearing in partnership with Lions Clubs.

About This Cause

In 1925, at one of the first Lions International conventions, American author and deaf blind activist Helen Keller challenged Lions to focus on preventable sight and hearing issues as their primary mission. Lions accepted this cause. Since its formation in 1959, the Oregon Lions Sight & Hearing Foundation (OLSHF) has fulfilled this promise of providing sight and hearing assistance programs to those in need throughout the state. Since that time OLSHF has grown substantially and offers a number of community health programs based on its mission to screen, treat, save and restore sight and hearing in partnership with Lions Clubs. Our services are made possible through 27 staff, a network of 140 Lions Clubs, hundreds of health care providers, and a 25-member Board of Trustees. OLSHF’s occupancy at the Legacy Good Samaritan Hospital campus is provided at no cost thanks to our long standing partnership. OLSHF supports the cause of focusing on preventable sight and hearing issues in partnership with the Lions of Oregon and doctors around the state. We ensure that people who need surgery, treatments, exams and eyeglasses or hearing aids but can't afford them receive help.
