Mission Statement
San Jose Woman's Club provides an inclusive space to build friendship, community, and support for women and all who support them. The Club, one of California's oldest women’s organizations, was established in 1894 as part of a nationwide social movement of women’s clubs that combined self-improvement with voluntary community work, addressing needs that interested women, such as kindergartens, libraries, and parks. Today, the San Jose Woman's club is stretching its mission and is working to build partnerships across the city. We are no longer a same-sex organization, yet we continue to focus on women and community as a 501C3 non-profit organization.
About This Cause
Our membership today spans seven generations. We come from diverse backgrounds and are united by our interest in creating a community that is inclusive, welcoming, and relevant to all life stages. As a contemporary urban club for women, we continue to blend history, culture and tradition with service, innovation and community engagement.
