Mission Statement
Booker T. Washington Community Service Center is a beacon of Black joy and self-determination. We uplift and serve our community, build intergenerational bonds, and work in solidarity with allied communities to reform and reimagine San Francisco.
About This Cause
As the Bay Area's oldest Black-led and serving nonprofit, the Booker T. Washington Community Service Center has nourished generations of San Franciscans. For more than 105 years, we have been firmly planted in San Francisco as an anchor institution with a focus on the historic Fillmore/Western Addition. We nourish more than 6,000 people a year, offering a full spectrum of culturally-responsive programs to address the holistic needs of our youth, teens and transitional-aged-youth, families, seniors, and the San Francisco community at-large. Our unique community center also has 50 units of permanent, affordable, supportive housing on-site for families, older adults and youth coming out of the foster care system.
