Mission Statement
We seek to build vibrant communities where everyone participates, prospers and succeeds. We advance our mission by delivering culturally sensitive, multigenerational, community-based services focused on underserved families. We strive to inspire and facilitate success by providing vital, uplifting services for low-income seniors, youth and families with young children.
About This Cause
MNC Inspiring Success has been serving our San Francisco community for over 125 years. As a BIPOC led non-profit, we serve over 45,000 low-income families at 16 campuses sites throughout the city. Founded as a settlement house in 1897, MNC continues its legacy of ensuring a welcoming environment focusing on social justice, advocacy, community organizing and networking. Today, MNC offers a myriad of vitally important services and programs. Our families are predominantly Latinx, African American, Asian, and Russian. We help underserved people build resilient and vibrant communities by developing and promoting leadership skills, providing multicultural and multi-generational educational programs, workforce development, homelessness prevention and social services. We promote leadership skills that inspire multi-generational and multi-ethnic families to build strong, healthy, and vibrant neighborhoods. Key services and programs include: • Early Education: We value our role in preparing infants, toddlers, and preschool aged children for educational success throughout their lives. Our quality early education is done thru heartfelt services provided to our children and their families. We offer services to our diverse community, and these include comprehensive dual-language English and Spanish services with full-day, full-year care options available. MNC Early Education operates 10 campuses throughout San Francisco. • Youth Services and Family Resources: Our programming offers a variety of community-based, culturally rich services to both youth and families. Precita University helps underserved youth and their families through educational, enrichment, preventative, and early intervention initiatives; our Family Resource Center provides comprehensive services to the entire familial unit; and our Mission Girls site focuses on the needs of Latinas and girls of color. • Healthy Aging and Disability Services: Working to improve the health and wellbeing of our elders and people with disabilities, this program has provided services for more than 48 years, meeting the needs of our clients throughout San Francisco. Our participants have the opportunity to socialize with their peers who share the same interests through educational workshops, fun and engaging group activities, congregated meals, and various organized classes. • Workforce Development: Provides high risk youth and young adults, ages 16-24, with first-time work experience in construction or green & clean economy positions. Targeting youth and unemployed or underemployed adults our program offers a variety of work, experience, development, training, and education. • Homeless Prevention: Our programming works to identify, assist, and provide services to households at the highest risk of losing their housing, by preventing or quickly ending their homelessness. This includes very low and extremely low-income households, and those with leases or informal housing situations. A Path Forward Working to make the most of local, state, and federal funding, the impact of MNC’s care is felt throughout San Francisco. Through a strengths-based, culturally relevant approach supporting all aspects of client family life. With early seed funding from foundations and dedicated community members, MNC is responding directly to emerging needs through innovative programs not yet ready to be codified by government contracts. This includes a job placement program that also provides food services for all of MNC’s early care sites. As well, a plan to provide crisis care and emergency assistance for seniors and families including direct referrals, and handoffs to uplifting services will be implemented at our Bayview Quesada Campus. Mid to Long-term plans include affordable housing developments in San Francisco and beyond the city limits. These responsive solutions are only possible through MNC’s philanthropic efforts and the investment of our dedicated community. Giving Through MNC MNC is dedicated to uplifting and empowering seniors and families to build strong, healthy, and vibrant neighborhoods. Through decades of experience, MNC is uniquely positioned with evidence-based solutions, project management experience, and a knowledgeable workforce to effectuate change for San Francisco. MNC works to match philanthropic intent with programs that will also attract government support to provide outcomes for the betterment of all we serve.
