Mission Statement
Hidden Villa is a nonprofit educational organization that uses its organic farm, wilderness, and community to teach and provide opportunities to learn about the environment and social justice. We serve over 50,000 people annually and provide over $550,000 in scholarship and partnership support, ensuring that these opportunities are accessible to all. Our mission is to provide engaging outdoor education and sustainable agriculture programs for people of all ages to inspire a deep connection and abiding respect for the natural world and each other.
About This Cause
Our future needs compassionate leaders, thoughtful stewards, and creative critical thinkers. Hidden Villa celebrates community, hands-on learning and the impact each of us can make on the world we share. Each day, we strive towards our mission in numerous ways: we teach young children the most basic concept that food is a natural resource; we ask youth to consider the impacts of the choices and actions; and we encourage parents to be conscientious consumers and to share positive social and environmental values with their children. We provide scholarship support for our educational programs and donate 25% of our organic produce to our low-income neighbors to make sure our offerings are available to people of all different backgrounds. Hidden Villa provides a vibrant spectrum of hands-on learning opportunities for people of all ages: -Hidden Villa Environmental Education Program: For Pre-K through 6th Grade, serving over 22,000 children, parents and teachers a year and offering over $150,000 in scholarships. -Youth Development Leadership Programs For 7th through 12th Grade -Hands in the Soil = Hands-on Science: a lesson planning and curriculum resource available for free online -Off-Site Partnerships with Taft Community School: Hands-on learning in the science classroom and garden -Hidden Villa Summer Camp Program: A 70 year old multicultural summer camp program, serving over 1,300 children and offering over $205,000 in scholarships. -Community Programs: Workshops, classes, cultural events, music and dance performances, and community celebrations.
