Mission Statement

The mission of the St. Vincent de Paul Society of San Francisco is to offer hope and service on a direct person-to-person basis, working to break the cycles of homelessness, substance abuse and domestic violence.

About This Cause

The St. Vincent de Paul Society of San Francisco was established in 1860, and now serves over 1,000 people in need every day. Our Multi Service Center is the largest homeless shelter in Northern California, feeding, clothing and sheltering over 150,000 people annually. We also offer a Drop-in Center for those who need rest during the day. Every day we shelter, feed and support 370 homeless men and women, and provide drop-in services to another 70 persons. Our Wellness Center offers free guidance, instruction and community for those wanting to get their lives to the next level whether it be emotionally, physically or spiritually. Our Riley Center Services for Survivors of Domestic Violence provides half of the housing available in San Francisco for persons fleeing domestic violence. Rosalie House is our emergency shelter and Brennan House offers longer-term housing.
