Mission Statement

The mission of the St. Vincent de Paul Society of San Francisco is to offer hope and service on a direct person-to-person basis, working to break the cycles of homelessness, substance abuse and domestic violence.

About This Cause

The St. Vincent de Paul Society of San Francisco was established in 1860 and now serves over 500 people in need daily. Our Multi-Service Center (MSC) is the largest homeless shelter in Northern California, feeding, clothing, and sheltering over 150,000 people annually. Every day we shelter, feed, and support 370 homeless men and women at MSC alone in addition to our other available services. Our Division Circle Navigation Center (DCNC) provides shelter, food, and clothing to over 150 homeless men and women, including couples, along with additional services. Our Riley Center Services for Survivors of Domestic Violence provides half of the housing available in San Francisco for persons fleeing domestic violence and their families. Rosalie House is our shorter-term emergency shelter while Brennan House offers longer-term shelter to transition survivors into their own independent housing, both of which are confidential, safe sites where survivors can feel secure. All of our programs provide case management on an individual level that helps guests apply for jobs, enter into housing programs, support addiction recovery, receive medical care, and find joy again in life through regular game events, movie nights, referrals to other programs, and much more. At St. Vincent de Paul, we are committed to helping all of our guests become self-sufficient and lead successful, happy lives.
