DELTA STOCKTON HUMANE SOCIETY & SOCIETY FOR PREVENTION OF CRUELTY

STOCKTON, California, 95215 United States

Mission Statement

The Delta Humane Society strives to continue its mission by promoting the humane treatment of animals and the bond of caring between humans and animals. We do not destroy our animals. We accomplish our mission by providing shelter, care, and adoption services for homeless, misplaced, and stray animals. We seek to educate and make the county's citizens aware of their responsibilities in the pet overpopulation crisis. Promoting public awareness of the care of all animals worldwide is essential.

About This Cause

In 1966, the Delta Stockton Humane Society SPCA was the first shelter to open in San Joaquin County. Its staff consisted of 3 full-time employees, 4 part-time employees, and a caretaker/overseer. The initial membership rolls started with 200 members and swelled to over 600 by 1973. Now, in 2024, we currently house and care for 350+ fur babies awaiting adoption, primarily cats and dogs, which, as of recently, have been housing small animals and some farm animals. There are 5 full-time & 8 part-time staff members, a 9-member volunteer Board of Directors, and approximately 50 + volunteers at different times for different occasions. We also provide community hours to those needing them, such as court-related, school, team members from corporations, and much more. Our memberships have been diminished as of 2019. We strive for fundraising events that bring our community together, which also helps us directly raise proceeds for Delta Humane Society's No-Kill Shelter programs and helps us continue to save fur babies and improve lives! Our non-profit organization receives no city, county, or federal monetary support. We are not affiliated with City Animal Control or National Humane Society of SPCA organizations such as ASPCA. All donations that Delta Humane Society SPCA of SJC raise go directly to provide well-being care expenses, shelter, cleaning, medications, overhead to our facility, and much more to continue to keep our fur babies at our No-Kill shelter safe and ready for adoption. All pets receive current vaccinations and are spayed/neutered & microchipped before adopting out. Since we are a non-profit organization solely relying on donations, your public support makes the difference. Please visit our new website at www.dhsspca.org for more information, upcoming events... and, of course, to see our furry friends with whiskers and wagging tails! Come on down to our facility to visit our fur babies up close... I know they would absolutely love to see you today!!! A loving home with a loving family like you/yours can make all the difference in their world… For your information, we will soon help our community with a new and improved mobile spay/neuter clinic, consisting of a 36-foot-long hitch trailer with new medical equipment! Hope to see you soon!
