About This Cause
The Holy Resurrection Romanian Orthodox Parish is a religious non-profit organization established in 1964 with the mission of serving the growing Romanian community of Bay Area, California. The Parish is affiliated to the Romanian Orthodox Episcopate of America, which is part of the Orthodox Church of America. Even though its religious denomination is clearly specified, the religious and laic services do not exclude persons of other religious beliefs or nationalities, or on any other reasons. The Parish is administrated by a Parish Council of voluntary members, elected once a year by a General Assembly of the Members. Parish membership is voluntary, paid on an annual basis, and provides the donor the right to vote in the Parish Assembly and to be elected in the Parish Council. No other services/functions are limited or provided to members only. All other duties in the organization are performed by volunteers, members or not. The Parish has been recognized as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization since 1969, and has grown in time to include a Sunday School, a Scholarship Fund and a People in Need Program. The People in Need Program has helped needy individuals and families, charitable causes such as houseless cases, medical hardship, orphans from abroad, and provided help in special circumstances (floods, etc.). Although the Parish Council has full control on the use of Parish funds, donor have always the option of choosing the purpose of their donation(s) from the main, ongoing church funds, or by responding to specific calls for donations. In general, the church does not provide non-religious services and does not sale merchandise of any kind.
