Mission Statement

At the Volunteer Center of Santa Cruz County, we're transforming our community through volunteerism, empowering everyone to Be the Difference. The Volunteer Center of Santa Cruz County makes it easy for people to do good in their community. Because when people are connected to causes they care about, and given the right tools and support, everything changes for good.

About This Cause

We connect people, organizations, and businesses to: Transform lives through our programs in Mental Health, Restorative Justice, Family Support, and Empowered Aging. Build Community through large-scale community initiatives, events, and fundraising - Disaster Response, Santa Cruz Gives, and the Be the Difference Awards Volunteer for Good through volunteer match programs, pairing volunteers with local agencies and nonprofits, and partnering with local businesses that want to build a more connected community. Every solution to a community problem starts with people taking action. The Volunteer Center unites people across differences to work side by side on causes they care about—creating change for good. Volunteers power solutions: a tutor helps an adult English learner support their child’s education, a driver ensures a senior gets to a doctor’s appointment, and thousands mobilize in times of crisis. Through 19 programs and 500+ partner agencies, we provide the skilled, compassionate people needed to strengthen our community. When people are connected to meaningful service, they are happier, healthier, and more engaged—making our community stronger across every cause.
