Mission Statement

Our Agency Family Service Agency of the Central Coast is a private, non-profit agency serving the community since 1957. We offer a variety of clinical, crisis, educational, outreach and supportive services designed to help maintain and strengthen your family and our community.

About This Cause

Counseling Services If you or your family are struggling with depression, anxiety, conflict, parenting or relationship issues, we provide affordable professional counseling. We have locations to serve you in Santa Cruz and Watsonville. You will be responsible for a portion of the fee based on a sliding scale related to your monthly family income. We accept some private insurance. If you are lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender, our Rainbow Counseling program has counselors with special training available for you. Suicide Prevention Service If you or someone you know is struggling with suicidal thoughts or feelings, please call our suicide crisis line. We provide safe support, information and community referrals. Access to the 24-hour, multilingual, confidential suicide crisis line is available for all residents of Monterey, Santa Cruz, and San Benito Counties. I-You Venture If you know a care facility resident who is struggling with loneliness and isolation, our volunteers can engage them as an equal participant in a broad spectrum of activities from movement, reading and art groups, to the quiet intimacy of one to one visits. Each year, we hold a Picnic in the Park for care facility residents to enjoy a cookout, beautiful weather and live music. If you know a care facility resident who would like to express themselves through art, our Ageless Art Project volunteer artists provide ongoing support and guidance in many facilities. Everyone deserves to celebrate the holidays and our Holiday Helpers organize and distribute gifts to care facility residents donated by members of our community. Senior Outreach If you are a senior who is trying to maintain your independence by working through the transitions of aging, our volunteer peer counselors will see you in your home and help with issues like depression, anxiety, bereavement, illness and family problems. You can also attend one of our many support groups. Survivors Healing Center If you are a survivor of child sexual abuse or a family member, we offer a safe healing environment through our many therapy groups and maintain a free lending library. Goals of the groups are to break isolation, develop healthy coping skills, reduce shame, increase self-esteem and build healthy boundaries. For members of the community, we provide workshops and training for staff. We also sponsor events designed to break the silence around sexual abuse including our annual Walk to Stop the Silence held in Watsonville in April. WomenCARE If you are a woman with any type of cancer, we offer a safe haven where you can find mutual support, shared experiences and open hearts. Our groups, staff and volunteers can provide you and your family a wide range of emotional and practical support at each stage of your personal journey. If you are a Latina in the Watsonville area, our Entre Nosotras program can provide you with bilingual support services from diagnosis through treatment and healing. We invite you to participate in our Strike Out Against Cancer bowling benefit held each October.
