About This Cause
The Junior League of San Jose is a women's organization whose mission is to advance women’s leadership for meaningful community impact through volunteer action, collaboration, and training. As a member of the Junior League, you get both of these with the addition of a strong, powerful community of like-minded women alongside you. We call that the 3 C’s – Civic Leadership, Community Impact, and Connection. The Junior League of San Jose is 100% volunteer-run, which means every member makes a difference and impacts our Mission. We aim to help Santa Clara County women develop civic leadership skills through their work and training programs and then put those talents to work in the communities that need them. At the heart of our organization lies a passion for empowering women to become stronger leaders equipped with the skills and knowledge necessary to create a more equitable and vibrant community. We believe in the transformative power of engaged, informed, and connected women. Our current focus of supporting community partners and initiatives for Transitional-Age Foster Youth gives women opportunities to grow while positively impacting the communities where they live and work. Our community goal aims to improve outcomes for transitional-age foster youth by supporting initiatives to ensure that 50% of foster youth earn $50,000 by age 26. We support community partners through direct service, advocacy, capacity building, coalition building, and grant-making. Through our partnership with the California State Public Affairs Committee (CalSPAC), members can participate in many direct service opportunities, engage in strategic grant-making, and learn about public policy and advocacy each year.
