The mission of SPHDS is to provide students with an excellent education in General and Judaic studies, and to instill in them Jewish values, and a love of Torah, the Jewish people and Israel.
About This Cause
South Peninsula Hebrew Day school (SPHDS) founded in 1972 is the oldest Jewish Day School in the Silicon Valley. Located in Sunnyvale, we are a preschool to eighth grade Modern Orthodox day school that embraces the sophistication and multi-culturalism of the Bay Area while adhering to traditional Jewish observance. The mission of SPHDS is to provide students with an excellent education in General and Judaic studies, and to instill in them Jewish values, and a love of Torah, the Jewish people and Israel. With close to 300 students from ages two until eighth grade, SPHDS students commute to our school from over 40 zipcodes. SPHDS is a unique in it is extremely diverse. The range of religious practice and belief come full circle and hit every point on the Jewish spectrum. From secular Israelis to right-wing Orthodox and everything in the middle, SPHDS is a community school for everyone. Along with this comes a diverse socioeconomic constituency with veteran, new and transient families all co-existing in our school community.
