About This Cause
Since 1979, One World Montessori School has been committed to providing a complete Montessori education that incorporates an excellent learning environment, foreign language, classes in the arts, and parent education. Over the years, One World Montessori has educated thousands of children and enriched the lives of their families as well. One World Montessori provides an excellent alternative to traditional government-sponsored schools by using the Montessori educational philosophy. The object is for each child to become an independent, self-reliant person, aware of what he or she wants from life. One World Montessori provides children with the tools necessary to achieve their goals, develop a sense of self, and make a unique contribution to society. Along with our school year program, we offer an exciting summer experience, available in two-week sessions. Studies have shown that: • Montessori children consistently rate significantly higher than their peers in other schools in the areas of interest in learning, independence, interpersonal relations, leadership, and learning ability. • Montessori programs are rated as the most effective in producing long-term school success. • Montessori children continue to maintain statistically higher levels in reading and math. • The Montessori method performs better than other programs studied in the development of attention strategies, general intelligence, achievement in academic areas, and especially in maintaining these skills. Students develop positive self-esteem in an environment that encourages creativity and individuality. A wide variety of activities are provided to help children develop their unique talents, which helps them to experience repeated success as they achieve mastery in academics. The Montessori Method Dr. Maria Montessori was an Italian psychiatrist, philosopher, and educator. The Montessori theory of education is founded upon a deep and abiding respect for the integrity of the individual student. Dr. Montessori developed a unique concept of education that allows children to develop at their own speed, according to their own capacities and natural interest, while fostering an awareness of their responsibility for the well-being of the community. One World is dedicated to manifesting Montessori's dream for children and humanity. An Excellent Learning Environment for Every Child One World Montessori School provides an integrated learning environment for children with a wide range of skills and abilities. The school's individual attention and learning program is idea because every child, regardless of ability, is able to participate. Mixed age groupings allow children to find individuals with similar interests and abilities, and to learn from and teach each other. Students spend their time in an environment that is optimal for their individual development. Didactic learning materials appeal to both gifted and challenged learners, as well as those who fall in the middle.
