Mission Statement
The mission of the Bay Area Crisis Nursery (BACN) is to prevent child abuse and neglect by providing support services to families under stress or in crisis. Our primary service is providing a warm, loving, homelike environment for children birth through five years of age in our 24-hour residential care facility. The Nursery is a vibrant and happy place where young children are safe, healthy, and can thrive physically and emotionally. BACN's services are always free, voluntary, and confidential.
About This Cause
Since 1981, BACN has been a sanctuary for children and families in crisis. Parents come to us for a multitude of reasons—stress, domestic violence, medical and mental health issues, addiction recovery, short-term incarceration or a court date, loss of childcare, accidents and injuries, fear of abuse, and more. What our parents have in common is a desire to do what’s best for their children. Knowing their children are safe at the Nursery, our program gives grateful families the time they need to focus on and resolve a crisis. Located in Concord, BACN is the only state-licensed crisis nursery serving the greater Bay Area. Our doors are never closed. We are open 24 hours a day, 365 days per year. Children can live with us for up to 30 days within a 6-month period. Following a child’s initial Nursery stay, they are eligible for BACN’s respite program. Respite stays are planned 48-hour monthly visits that allow families the time they need for continued stress reduction.
