TUOLUMNE RIVER PRESERVATION TRUST

Sonora, California, 95370 United States

Mission Statement

We seek a healthy and vibrant river that is: •Teeming with fish and wildlife • Safe for drinking, fishing and swimming • Welcoming for rafting, kayaking, and other river sports • Held in trust as a refuge for our children and grandchildren We want every person who benefits from the Tuolumne to know that their food was grown from its water, their tap water comes from it, their wild salmon were hatched in its gravels, and their backpacking, fishing and rafting trip depends on its health.

About This Cause

The Tuolumne River Trust is the only organization working to protect and restore the Tuolumne River from its headwaters in the Sierra, through the Central Valley, to San Francisco Bay. By actively engaging riverside communities and those in the Bay Area that receive Tuolumne River water, we have become a watershed-wide organization with 3 offices, 10 full time staff, a strong volunteer network, and a history of success. Over TRT’s history, we have educated thousands of people about watershed ecology and river health, introduced thousands of youth and families to canoeing, hiking, and other outdoor sports, stopped the construction of new dams, halted increased water diversions from the River, and restored hundreds of acres of floodplain and wildlife habitat.
