Earth Island Institute is a non-profit, public interest, membership organization that supports people who are creating solutions to protect our shared planet.
About This Cause
Founded in 1982 by pioneering environmental activist David Brower, Earth Island Institute is a hub for grassroots campaigns dedicated to conserving, preserving, and restoring the ecosystems on which our civilization depends. Our four core areas of work are: 1) Project Support: providing support for our worldwide network of more than 65 solutions-focused projects 2) New Leaders Initiative and Brower Youth Awards: furthering our special initiatives in youth leadership (www.broweryouthawards.org) 3) Restoration Initiatives: supporting community-based environmental restoration projects 4) Earth Island Journal: informing and inspiring action on a wide range of critical environmental and social justice issues with our award-winning magazine, free IslandWire e-newsletter, and our daily online news updates on the latest urgent issues.
