Mission Statement
Native Seeds/SEARCH seeks to find, protect and preserve the seeds of the people of the Greater Southwest so that these arid adapted crops may benefit all peoples and nourish a changing world. We envision the Greater Southwest as a place where farms and gardens, kitchens and tables, stores and restaurants are brimming with the full diversity of aridlands-adapted heirloom crops; people are keeping the unique seeds and agricultural heritage alive; and the crops, in turn, are nourishing humankind.
About This Cause
MISSION STATEMENT Native Seeds/SEARCH seeks to find, protect and preserve the seeds of the people of the Greater Southwest so that these arid adapted crops may benefit all peoples and nourish a changing world. VISION STATEMENT We envision the Greater Southwest as a place where farms and gardens, kitchens and tables, stores and restaurants are brimming with the full diversity of aridlands-adapted heirloom crops; people are keeping the unique seeds and agricultural heritage alive; and the crops, in turn, are nourishing humankind. VALUE STATEMENTS As stewards of the seeds in our collection, we honor their origins, treat them with respect and value the traditional knowledge associated with them. We believe all farmers and gardeners have the right to save and share seed. Access to nutritional and flavorful food is fundamental to the mental and physical health of all people. Crop bio-diversity strengthens our ability to respond to climate change and supports food security. Our future depends on the degree to which we understand, value, protect and share crop agricultural and cultural diversity.
