Mission Statement

Shepherd’s Gate is recognized as the leading faith-based non-profit in Northern California, specializing in providing long-term recovery for women and children that suffer from homelessness, addiction and domestic violence. Our long-term live-in program provides shelter, food, and numerous classes for women to gain healing, recovery, boundaries, parenting, computer skills, education, GED, etc. The women get the opportunity to work on legal issues, budgeting, and credit debt. One of our goals is to help women gain employment so they can live in our community. We also provide transitional housing after graduation, alumni meetings, family reunification and career mentors. We care for children through our on-site nursery and after school program, as well as a trauma program. Children need the opportunity to heal from domestic violence and homelessness. Volunteers can help in our Learning & Career Center, Nursery and after school program.

About This Cause

Over the last 35 years, Shepherd’s Gate has helped over 12,000 women transform their lives. Our two campuses in Livermore and Brentwood provide a safe long-term solution to homelessness, addiction and domestic violence. Over 80 percent of our graduates succeed after graduation with long-term sobriety, secured housing, employed or attending college, and have a support group within their church community. The goal of the 12-18-month program is to give women the tools necessary to be self-sufficient while they successfully break the cycle of poverty, homelessness, addiction and abuse. All services are provided to anyone regardless of race, age, religion, color, creed, national origin, disability, marital status. The women and children come from all over the county but primarily from the Bay Area.
