Mission Statement

The East Bay Asian Youth Center (EBAYC) is supports young people to be safe, smart and socially responsible. Our goals are for all young people to be safe, smart, and socially responsible. We believe that if our neighborhoods are places where young people are supported by a rich array of supports, opportunities, and relationships, young people will be safe, smart, and socially responsible. We work to make our neighborhoods supportive places for young people by: 1) Establishing strategic partnerships with key public institutions – schools, colleges, and courts – to provide a continuum of comprehensive supports to children, youth, and young adults; and by 2) Organizing families to improve the quality of life in their community.

About This Cause

EBAYC serves a racially and culturally diverse membership over 2,500 children, youth, and young adults who reside in Oakland’s San Antonio, Eastlake, and Chinatown neighborhood districts. Our members include African Americans, Cambodians, Chinese, Lao Iu-Mien, Latinos, Mexicanos, Filipinos, and Vietnamese. We provide young people and their families a continuum of supports and opportunities, in partnership with 9 neighborhood public schools, 3 alternative public schools, U.C. Berkeley, and the Alameda County Probation Department. Founded in 1976, EBAYC and Oakland Asian Student Educational Services (OASES) merged in 2012 to become a bigger and better community organization in service of children, youth, and young adults.
