Mission Statement

Partnering for healing and a healthy future for all children

About This Cause

In 1955, Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital opened its doors thanks to the philanthropic accomplishments of a group of women who had a heart for children in their community. Their mission was to ensure that children had access to the care they needed, close to home. As Mary Bridge continues to adapt to the health care needs of children in our community, the focus remains the same: providing high quality, compassionate care for children regardless of a family’s ability to pay. Every year, Mary Bridge serves more than 300,000 children across South Puget Sound. More than half of the families served are low income — 70% of families are on Medicaid. Even the best insurance can leave families with gaps in coverage. The Mary Bridge Children’s Foundation was established to ensure children get the care they need by eliminating barriers to care and healing. Thanks to generous donors, the foundation continues to support uncompensated care and clinical and community programs not fully covered by insurance. Projects and services supported by donors include clinic expansions, housing for families during hospitalizations, specialized medical equipment, community services and more.
