Mission Statement
Established in 1989, Abode Services’ mission is to end homelessness in our community. Abode Services increasingly seeks to develop its own permanent supportive housing sites to help formerly homeless people gain a new home and keep it. We have more than 15 supportive housing sites at various stages of development. We also have rehabilitated existing structures, converting them to supportive housing to better meet the needs of our participants. In addition, our impactful work with landlords helps provide units of housing for individuals and families looking for a place to plant their feet and make a fresh start. Since 2013, Abode Services has partnered with around 2,350 active landlords at nearly 6,400 active rental units. Abode Services offers programs in Alameda, Santa Clara, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Cruz, and Napa counties that combine housing and services to assist homeless families and individuals in establishing stability and independence.
About This Cause
Abode Services, one of the Bay Area’s largest providers of housing and services for homeless people, believes that everyone should have a home. In our most recently completed fiscal year (FY22), Abode Services assisted 14,719 people and ensured that on any given night 6,844 people slept in a home rather than on the street. Abode Services has provided homes to 16,391 adults and children since 2010. Every day, we use the Housing First approach to provide housing and services to formerly homeless people as we work to end the cycle of homelessness. The Housing First approach finds that one has a home, and the services that follow are much more effective at helping that person find housing and keep it.
