About This Cause

Founded in 1987 and based in Oakland, Cantare Con Vivo (To Sing With Life) is an inter-generational non-profit choral music organization that engages participants from ages 5 to 80 from Alameda and Contra Costa counties. We provide tuition-free choral music residencies to Title 1 (under-served) K-12 children in the Oakland Unified School District (OUSD) serving approximately 2,150 students through 72 classes weekly and 5 youth choirs. Our highly acclaimed 100-voice symphonic Chorale and its 24-voice Chamber Ensemble offer seven different concert programs annually that are affordable and accessible. The choirs have performed over 150 different concert programs, presenting more than 1,500 compositions, including numerous major choral/orchestral works. Our choirs perform for more than 4,000-5,000 adults and children each year.
