IMAGINE CHILDRENS MUSEUM

Mission Statement

The mission of Imagine Children’s Museum is to enrich children’s lives through playful learning. As the largest children’s museum in the Pacific Northwest, we are continually working to provide unique and innovative programs and exhibits that stimulate the senses, spark imagination and exploration, and inspire lifelong learning. We are a safe place for children ages 1-12 to take chances, meet others, and find what excites them.

About This Cause

Imagine Children’s Museum is in Everett, Washington, and embraces the children and families of Snohomish County as its target audience. By population, the county is third largest in the state behind King and Pierce Counties (including Seattle and Tacoma), but with significantly fewer informal learning experiences such as major museums, zoos, and aquariums. In addition, many residents of Snohomish County are geographically and economically isolated from partaking in neighboring county activities. Thus, local access to cultural organizations like Imagine Children’s Museum is a matter of equity to Snohomish County families who have few other resources and include diverse communities. Imagine Children’s Museum celebrates choice, wonder, and delight, and provides playful learning experiences for children and their parents and caregivers. Hands-on exhibits, performances, activities, and outreach programs provide informal learning enrichment in STEM (science, technology, engineering, math), literacy, creativity, and family learning. Two floors of immersive and interactive exhibits highlight the region’s geography and history to instill appreciation of the local environment and build civic pride. Imagine is an essential, accessible community gathering place where families spend high-quality time together year-round in a physically and emotionally safe environment. In 2023, Imagine served 293,171 children and families, making it the sixth largest museum by audience in the Puget Sound region. Imagine has always prioritized the inclusion and participation of all children, regardless of family income, life situation, or ability. Nearly 30% of in-person visitors to the Museum entered through free or reduced-cost access programs such as Free Community Access Nights, Museums for All, Half-Price Tuesdays, and discounted field trips. In 2023, 61,302 individuals benefited from these initiatives. These programs ensure that all area families are given the opportunity to benefit from the exhibits and activities regardless of their ability to afford admission. Community outreach programs take informal learning experiences to schools, libraries, parks, arboretums, childcare facilities, shopping malls, and community centers, allowing Imagine to meet the community where they are, free of charge to participants. These programs served 21,160 children and caregivers in 2023, helping alleviate geographic and financial barriers to access. With a reputation for fiscal strength and responsibility, and thanks to generous support from donors like you, Imagine will remain a vital family and community resource for generations to come.
