Mission Statement

We nurture caregivers and those they care for by teaching skills rooted in mindfulness and compassion while fostering connections.

About This Cause

“Caregiving often calls us to lean into love we didn’t know was possible.” Tia Walker, from The Inspired Caregiver Zen Caregiving Project, formally the Zen Hospice Project, is a nonprofit organization based in San Francisco, California with more than 30 years experience in practicing and teaching mindfulness-based, compassionate caregiving. We offer three programs, all related to compassionate caregiving and all which support those carrying out the very human yet often very demanding role of caring for others in need. The first program is our Mindful Caregiving Education program, which helps build the emotional resilience of professional, clinical and family caregivers, and teaches them how to work skillfully with stress and loss. We also create workshops and custom courses to bring the topics of loss and death into the open, providing a safe space in which people can explore the areas that we often don’t dare to face. Finally we have a Volunteer Caregiving Program, in which we train volunteers in skills grounded in mindfulness and compassion to serve people who are chronically ill or dying in the San Francisco Bay Area. Your donation helps us to reach people in need, particularly subsidizing those who can’t afford to pay even modest prices for support. We hope that you feel moved to follow us and support our cause - providing these services to all who need them. Thank you for your generosity.
