Mission Statement

CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) of Jackson and Josephine Counties trains volunteer CASA's to give abused children a voice in court and beyond. CASAs ensure their children's best interests are heard and met and that children find safety, love and a permanent home sooner than later.

About This Cause

CASA is a volunteer driven organization, providing unduplicated, and legally mandated services that ensures children's needs and best interests remain at the forefront of every judicial decision. Although CASA is a mandated service, State funding only supports 20% of our budget. In 2023, we advocated for 686 children with 266 CASAs, but 100+ children remained on our waiting list. Children appointed a CASA spend 7.5 months less time in out of home care, have better academic outcomes, are 99.9% less likely to experience re-abuse and have one, consistent person by their side for the duration of their case--which averages 2 years. CASAs are highly trained, passionate and committed volunteers from all walks of life working to make outcomes better for abused children. It only costs $1,880 for a full year of CASA advocacy, thanks to the hard work of hundreds of volunteers.
