Mission Statement
CASA-Voices for Children trains and supervises volunteers to represent the best interests of children who are victims of abuse and neglect. CASA's (Court Appointed Special Advocates) give a voice to children in Benton County by advocating for every child's birthright to a safe, nurturing, forever family.
About This Cause
CASA, Court Appointed Special Advocates, is a unique program; there are no other agencies or nonprofit organizations that provide advocacy on behalf of children in foster care. Every day, judges decide the futures of abuse and neglected children in the court system - a system that is overburdened and unable to adequately focus on the needs of each child. Without the powerful voice of an advocate, children too often return to unsafe homes or languish in long-term foster care, risking future abuse or neglect. CASA volunteers are dedicated, highly-trained community members who serve as the eyes and ears of the Court. They get to know the children, all areas of their lives and ensure they receive the services they need. Volunteers speak for the child in the courtroom, representing their best interest and work to move the child as quickly and effectively as possible into a safe, permanent home. Most children who enter the child welfare system do so because of abuse or neglect by one or both parents. This means a child is without a responsible adult to ensure they are safe and their medical, educational, developmental, emotional and personal needs are met. A CASA volunteer is committed for the length of the case to ensure the well-being of the child and makes a real difference in advocating for the needs of the child.
