Mission Statement

Alameda Point Collaborative's mission is working to end homelessness by providing housing and services to create communities where formerly homeless families and individuals can flourish.

About This Cause

Alameda Point Collaborative (APC) provides permanent supportive housing and wraparound services to address homelessness and poverty and assist residents in building a path to self-sustainability. In 1999, APC transformed vacant military housing on the former Alameda Naval Air Station into a supportive housing community. APC now provides over 500 formerly homeless residents with the safety and stability of a place to call home. Nearly half our residents are under the age of 21. APC is the largest supportive housing community in Alameda County. In addition to receiving a safe home, residents work with on-site case managers and counselors to address their trauma and break down barriers to stability, setting their own goals for education, employment, mental and physical health, and other services needed to lead an independent, stable, and productive life and permanently break the cycle of homelessness and poverty. With our help, 98% of our residents maintain their housing for at least a year. Residents may participate in our workforce development programs and take advantage of paid on-the-job training opportunities through our social enterprises of an urban farm, a retail plant nursery and a commercial kitchen, as well as work in our administrative offices, education centers, or with partner organizations. They have easy access to life and job skills training, counseling, and resources provided by a team of highly skilled professionals. APC's Children & Youth Services provide safe spaces for tutoring and enrichment activities to support the academic, mental, and social development of the youngest members of our community. To enter the community, residents must be chronically displaced, and at least one head of household must live with a permanent disability. At APC, we recognize that solving homelessness requires much more than four walls and a roof. Through the lens of trauma informed care, APC provides services like employment training, substance abuse counseling, youth education, and family therapy. The supportive community of APC is a strong one. It is a place where residents, and the community they have created, can progress and flourish. Alameda Point Collaborative uses all of its resources to help families and individuals break the vicious cycle of poverty and homelessness using housing and buildings on the decommissioned Navy Base. From job-skills workshops and on-the-job training, to parenting classes, nutrition and food security, budgeting, conflict resolution, physical and mental wellness, to resources and referrals, APC strives to eliminate homelessness and poverty in our area. We know it can be done because we do it every day!
